February 17th, 2024 Reading Update

Published on 17 February 2024 at 17:23

As I sit down to write on February 17, 2024, I find myself immersed in the pages of three captivating books:

  1. House of Earth and Blood (Crescent City #1) by Sarah J. Maas
  2. Jane Eyre's Husband - The Life of Edward Rochester by Tara Bradley
  3. Divine Rivals (Letters of Enchantment #1) by Rebecca Ross

I know, it sounds ambitious—maybe even a little insane. But with a goal of reading 100 books by year's end, I'm determined to dive headfirst into literary adventures. However, my grand plan hit a snag when I only managed to read six books in January. February was supposed to be my "catch-up" month, but Sarah J. Maas's sprawling fantasy epic, "House of Earth and Blood," has proven to be quite the journey. Nevertheless, I'm loving every minute of it, even if I find myself four books behind schedule. No pressure, right?

Let's dive into my current reads:

**House of Earth and Blood**

I'm about 30% through this urban fantasy novel, and let me tell you—it's a wild ride. While familiarity with Sarah J. Maas's other works isn't necessary, be warned: this book is for mature readers only, with plenty of trigger warnings to consider. The world-building is intense, requiring full concentration to absorb every detail. But the payoff is worth it, as I find myself fully immersed in the city alongside protagonists Bryce Quinlan and Hunt Athalar.

**Jane Eyre's Husband - The Life of Edward Rochester**

As a devoted fan of "Jane Eyre," I couldn't resist revisiting the classic tale from a fresh perspective. Tara Bradley's novel delves into the life of Edward Rochester, offering insight into his backstory and motivations. It reads like a love letter to Charlotte Brontë's masterpiece, enriching the familiar story with new depth and perspective. I'm currently 40% through and eagerly anticipating the rest of Rochester's journey.

**Divine Rivals**

At 77% completion, Rebecca Ross's "Divine Rivals" has me absolutely hooked. I'll save the full review for later, but suffice it to say, I haven't been able to put it down. The vivid imagery and compelling characters make for an unforgettable reading experience. Stay tuned for my full thoughts once I've reached the final page.

As February unfolds, I find myself thoroughly engrossed in each of these tales. I'll be sure to keep you updated on my progress as the month continues. Until next time!
